Community physicians who work at White Memorial are the front-line health professionals that first diagnose, and treat, cancer in the east Los Angeles community. Until now it has been difficult for these community based physicians to gain valuable access to new targeted cancer therapies under development, even for patients that may not be responding to current FDA approved treatment options.

The creation of the White Memorial Medical Center Translational Research program via TRM will dramatically expand access to novel therapeutics and improve the quality of care that can be provided to cancer patients. WMMC has been committed to keeping the Los Angeles community healthy for nearly 100 years and has evolved to make use of state-of-the-art approaches to diagnose and treat disease. Developing a robust research program with TRM means WMMC cancer patients will now also have access to cutting edge treatment therapies that have the potential to significantly improve outcomes in the war against cancer.

It is anticipated that the new program will be conducting a number of clincal trials in 2011 to treat the most common typres of cancer. More detailed inforamtion about these upcoming research studies will be updated on the website regularly. For more information on this new program, or to particiapte in a clinical trial, please contact TRM by calling 424-208-8866.
